FISHING TIPS

Rod Position Can Improve Sensitivity

When fishing plastics, you will get better sensitivity if you hold the rod higher (around the 10 or 11 o'clock position). This allows the line to drop down at a 90 degree angle from the tip and increases sensitivity by transferring any activity to the rod quicker. Make sure you only use the reel to pick up slack line. If you feel a fish, lower the rod tip, reel the slack and set your hook.

Using Power Rigs

Power Rigs give you a perfect presentation every time. Attach a snap/swivel to the monofilament loop on the rig. Then, to fish at the desired depth, move the sliding sinker stopper to any position on the Power Rig. Floating Trout Bait will suspend for an irresistible presentation to help you catch more fish.

Pitching A Jig Into Tight Cover

Learning to pitch a jig into tight cover without spooking a big fish takes practice. Here's a great way to train at home. Take a plastic coffee cup and put about an inch of sand on the bottom. Place the cup about 25' away and start pitching into it. As you get better, you can take some of the sand out with the idea you want to lay the jig in the cup without tipping it over. When you can do this on a consistent basis, you are ready to go after bass in heavy cover - on their terms.

FISHING TIPS

Choose the Right Worm

Fish straight-tail worms when fish are laying low and staying tight to cover. Choose paddle-tail worms when you want maximum vibration with a slow retrieve, and try swimming-tail worms when the fish are really biting.

Reduce Line Twist

When motoring across the water, you can reduce spinning line twist by removing your lure and trolling your line behind you as you go. Letting a baitless line float downstream when river fishing also eliminates twists.

Protecting Your Line

Nothing is worse for your line or reels than direct sunlight or the heat of a car trunk. Keep them in a cool dark place when you're not on the water.
